Bought as day old chicks in Oct from a local Heritage Breeder, now excess to our needs . Wendell is a pure Araucana, he’s developing a green sheen to his Black body, with pale edging on some of his head feathers, $15 neg. Parents are pure Araucana (Blue egg layers) the breeders pen had a Lavender Rooster with Lavender and Black Hens. Wendell has been hand raised and is very tame and friendly, still sitting on our laps when we are in the chook yard and will come up to us in the afternoon when they are free ranging. As Wendell is a pure Araucana, if he was to go into a mixed flock with brown, cream and white egg layers, all his daughters will lay varying shades of blue through green eggs, only the shells are coloured the yoke is still yellow/orangedepending on the quality of feed.
