Would would i get if i crossed a loud pied peacock with a split to white peahen?

You will breed both white and pied offspring the percentage will be in favor of pied but there is no fixed percentage

I hope your neighbors are ok with a loud peacock. Can you pair it to a quite hen so the chicks aren't as loud as the father?

Sorry, you have misunderstood my question

"Loud" pied or "True" pied is not really a term used anymore, sorry my fault :oops:

Anyway "Loud" or "True" pied is when the bird has large patches of white all over the body :-D

Most breeders around the world now use the term from Peacocks Australia = reverse pied is 51% or more white markings, 50% or less is a pied.

The problem with the names reverse pied and regular pied is that they breed largely the same in crossing. Reverse pied are a selected subgroup of pied. A bit like a square is a special type of rectangle.

Both are split WP genotype, that is have a white allele and a pied allele at the same locus.

Homozygous pied PP look just like a regular blue but may have an odd white feather in a wing or occasionally elsewhere, like under the chin.

Generally when someone calls a peafowl 'pied', they are referring to the WP genoptype.

The gene is actully (TP) for Pied and (PP) for dark pied which is in fact the only true pied.

Reverse pied (TP) is not a subgroup at all its a pattern mutation so the same gene just referes to phenotype as they do not breed true. One copy of white (TT) one copy of pied (TP)

So there are 3 pieds technically only 1 true pied.

1 = dark pied (the true pied) (PP)
2 = pied (TP) pattern mutation
3 = reverse pied (TP) pattern mutation

Not over complicated for the new keeper to follow

Could you please explain further because I can't see the reason for your separation of #2 and #3 above and rejection of the idea of square/rectangle explantion.

2 & 3 are clearly different in phenotype if you look at a 30-40% pied V a 70-80% reverse pied pattern
