I don't think the farmers would appreciate me mowing their crops :( . At least the peafowl and Guineas roost up in the trees where the foxes can't get them and most days the dogs are out before they come down. Down to one chook after the blighters became so bold that they were coming down to the house for them even whilst I was sitting outside on one occasion. Busy making a newer and better pen before getting any more and this time they will be not be allowed to roost outside of it. We've been here a bit over 2 years and its always been at night or very early morning that something has been taken. First time they have taken anything that close to the house.

I have used the mixed chopped too but mine just pick out 1 or 2 of the nuts and leave the rest and being chopped I can't tell which ones they are eating

Just tell him your helping him harvest early

90% of fox strikes are dawn and they wait for the fowl to come down from the trees.

The farmer actually came round yesterday and cleared an area of a couple of metres around the fence line. I guess every little bit helps.
At the moment they come down in the yard in the morning and a fox would have to jump the perimeter fence on that side which gives the birds a chance. The first thing the dogs do in the morning is run around the fence line.
The thing I'm worried about is where they will nest.
And yes a good fox is a dead fox. I certainly don't shed a tear for the ones I see dead by the side of the road.
