Is now the time to increase the vitamins and protien for my peafowl with the breeding coming up now. I already feed them the diet recommended here such as greens bread cat biscuits but I was thinking of now adding protein pellets and vitamins to their water? What do you think?

Just make sure it’s a balanced diet and all in moderation for example do not feed them bread or cat biscuits every day, twice or three times maximum a week is good. If you want to give them house scraps then make sure it’s only greens NO MEAT especially fatty meats that would be plain stupid. If you looking on the web for information then beware of bad sites with horrendous advice and diets, I recently found a micro site with the worst advice you can imagine from idiots that have no clue what they are talking about so I guess that’s the down site of the web. Stick with the big sites like APF and you will get the right advice.

Over feeding is just as bad as under feeding so as you say all things in moderation like human diets. Anyone feeding their fowl human prepared meat needs to stop or they will kill them eventually

Looking for some help here, I'm quite new to PeaFowl and was wondering what the go is with the whole protein thing??? every body says at least 20%, even higher, so i have been busting my ass to find feed that high! So i have taken to adding kitchen scraps, and cat food etc, now i have found this site, and read that i need to be careful,,,
my other birds all free range most of the day, so i have never had to think about this stuff, they just eat every thing!!!
So fellas, i am asking for your help to set me straight! The Turkey feed i get is about 18% protein and i add scraps etc to build this up and add variety, cat food with 26% and a whole heap of calcium and good stuff is in constant supply,,, what do i need to avoid, and what should they be getting???
Should i pull out the cat food and use less??? that would save me heaps of cash!
I am also guilty of the meat thing as a local bird dealer advised me that fresh is always best... and as they eat lizards and frogs etc that it would be ok.
Thanks in advance for your help.
