Buyers guide
When buying Peafowl or pheasants you must be careful what and where you buy from the information here will help you make the right choices and stay clear of the bad apples out there. I have put this together with help from peafowl, pheasant and parrot breeders across Australia.

The good
The good breeders are those that only breed for quality and for the true love of birds they do not breed for money just for the genuine love of keeping and breeding their birds. The good breeders are well known and most importantly will share their knowledge and wisdom acquired of many decades of study and true understanding of their birds. Good breeders have high quality cages or pens that are clean and hygienic at all times. As a perfect example are two breeders well know in their field of peafowl and pheasants are The Legg family of Kansas City, MO USA and our own Peacocks Australia Qld ® both have first class information available written from their own experiences and knowledge and both have excellent photo galleries. Both breeders set the bar in their respective countries and when buying peafowl or pheasants you should look only for breeders of honesty, integrity, proven background, extensive knowledge and a willingness to share knowledge as both these breeders have proven time and time again.

The bad (commonly termed “bottom Feeders”)
The bad breeders or bottom feeders are easily recognizable thanks to the internet most believe it helps to sell their cause when in fact it actually exposes them. The bad breeder will use the internet for the sole purpose of selling their birds without offering any information or help and display no skills or knowledge of the birds in question and using an alias name. The most obvious is the very worst bottom feeder will attempt to run down a well known breeder in the hope to sell their own poor quality birds such as peafowl, pheasants or parrots ect. their behavior is typically to tell lies about another to attempt to bolster their own unknown reputation and some will even resort to stealing from the internet. These bottom feeders are parasitical types that target the naive and new person in the hope to lure them to make money. If you come across such a bottom feeder or know of one already then stay as far away from them as possible and only deal with the good breeders as mention above.

Exceptional Chelsea and the gospel truth. I am sure the message will get out there loud and clear and we all know one of recent times that fit the 'bottom feeder' category

Chelsea this is an excellent post a_bravo.gif a_bravo.gif a_bravo.gif

we all have known at least one 'bottom feeder' in our lives

I think the worst of them are the ones that spend years cultivating a 'friendship' and 'talking you up to others' to gain your trust, knowledge and then your birds - soon as this is completed they backstab and attempt to destroy your reputation

I call this particular category of bottom feeder "Card carrying gutter slime"

very glad you have posted this thread :-D a_bravo.gif [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]
