I have to disagree with you parvo and on a couple of points, no one is giving sweeping statements on the subject we are all giving first hand advice and I know of more than 1 peacock that have had paralysis ticks and they were at the point of complete loss of legs use and had the tick removed and kept quite and ALL fully recovered WITHOUT antitoxin. Now I am NOT saying this will work 100% of the time but it has worked and no expensive vet bills. I think we are all to quick to seek some form of drug to help when sometimes the good old immune system works better.

Again if you read this topic viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14736 you will see first hand it worked. Remember all birds are NOT the same and have different reactions to various issues and very few vets know much about peafowl physiology.

No disrespect intended on vets.

Do you have to catch them to check or is there a way to know if they have a tick? mine are all ok but now I want to keep a watch for them but I do not want to have to try and catch them as they have the whole 120 acres to run free

I assume the brown cattle tick is not as dangerous as the paralysis ticks are?
