Avoiding scams and story telling breeders is not as hard as it may seem here are a few pointers that you should follow to avoid these types

Scams are very easy to identify firstly most come from overseas so they will make MANY mistakes in the scam adverts below is one example

We have several varieties of Pied peafowl for sale in Rocky Hall › Far South Coast NSW including India Blue Pied, India Blue Pied White Eyed, Spalding Pied, Emerald Pied Spalding, and Silver Pied. Our birds have been selectively paired up with their mates to produce exquisitely colorful combinations of the pied varieties. http://pets.noflies.com.au/buy-pets+roc ... e/49265793

Ok so many mistakes in this scam. The most obvious is Spalding Pied, Emerald Pied Spalding they are not in Australia and are not even recognized here we do not give hybrids names they are just hybrids. Another is spelling such as "colorful" which as you can see is not even close to correct. This scam has been posted on many sites. These scammers will ask for money to be transferred to usually Western Union or similar DO NOT DO IT.

Here is the same advert in DUBAI http://www.dubaiuser.com/animals-and-pe ... 22384.html

Ok on to the story telling breeders, these too are easy to identify, firstly the ask very high prices for basic peafowl such as Indian blue, Indian blue pied and white they usually claim they are hard to breed so they have to charge more blah blah! and they come from mr overwidths line blah blah fabulous blah blah!! and may give a spin like running down other breeders with stories and lies to push the price up. If they were so hard to breed why is their so many in Australia, yes they are common and we all know that.

So what do you do?

That's the easy part, Firstly join APF the only forum on peafowl in Australia with all the top peafowl breeders in Australia who breed them as a fact. Second, if you see an advert for peafowl for sale on sites like Trading post or Gumtree ect.. log in to the forum and ask for advice in a post or a private message with a link to the advert you saw before you contact the seller, you can send a message to any of the top 20-40 breeders including the no1 breeder Peacocks Australia and any of them will offer you sound advice, help and honesty.

Also read carefully ALL the topics in the "Stickies" section of PEAFOWL & PHEASANTS (its at the top of this forum) there you will find lots of helpful advice and warnings on buying

So its easy! Just ask!

Join up to APF and help avoid the pit falls and enjoy your peafowl :-D

EXCELLENT Colin a_bravo.gif a_bravo.gif a_bravo.gif a_bravo.gif a_bravo.gif

I know thats part of the article on TW but its good to have it posted again. Are you going to add the other parts about L-PJ and L-TN and queenliemcfat?

I am so pleased we have stoped several from buying of the wrong people and avoiding those scams too

We will keep pushing the price down and that will get rid of a few story telling breeders [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

Good advice there Colin well done.

On the point of these bullsh-tters none of the IB's are hard to breed as you pointed out and if anyone tells you or writes that they are in anyway hard to breed then they are full of sh-t and you should not listen to or buy from them. As you wrote they are common and they would be even more common if the misconception of noise and land size was squashed. If you keep peafowl in cages and in most parts of Australia you should with the fox problems then you can have a pair on a 1/4 acre block if your council allows them. As for noise well get over it its for 2 or 3 months and thats it. They are the only 2 reasons why they are not in every second backyard no other reason.
