3.5kg going on 4kg was our estimation when we picked him up, we didn't actually weight him then. I will definitely feed him three times a day (over the weekend) while he is like this bar the usual twice a day.

We have insured he is not disturbed and we agree to let him sit and heal. Until Monday...when I will ask the vet to come out....

Thanks so much- I would hate to loose one....

7 girls and 8 boys...at the moment

Well he is a good weight and you are doing all you can which is a fantastic job by the way I can tell just how much you love your peas and I am the same its such a worrying time but I think with the fantastic care you give your peas he will pull through to thank you.

Good to see your flock is on the rise I have almost lost count here [smilie=a_holycrap.gif]

Yes, They are all growing...

Today he has just sat still mostly, a little movement, & he has eaten a little not a great deal as he is not burning allot of energy just sitting. However blueberries and egg and biscuit mix do the trick and belly must be full. He ate some wombok today too!

The vet is coming Monday-(booked in) I don't know what it is about vets sometimes, I know that they prefer to bring in the sick or injured animal, but my boy "Chadwick" has been hit by a car, so if I then bundle him up and put him in a car- the noise will stress him to DEATH! z
The others go to check on him morning time and just before night one fellow even sits down with him on the other side of the wire...so cute all looking out for one another...

Okay our lovely vet arrived, and "Chadwick our boy had been eating but just sitting.
The vet said she "If she rescues any peafowl could she bring them here to us...I said no worries and my husband rolled his eyes as in more  oh okay  Which is a huge compliment on our pen set ups.
He doesn't have a broken wing we checked both wings stretch them out and the vet let me feel for it!

The left leg, had lost all nerve feeling to the leg and in fact he had it laying out flat behind him (like his train), still warm, but absolutely no feeling /resistance at all!
We made the hard decision to put him down as his quality of life would have been determined on me being there!
I had prepped myself (and vet via phone) to bring euthanasia equipment just in case.

So he went to sleep with a belly full of fresh blueberries food sunflower seeds followed by a hot pink sunset with a gold lining just like his tail.... xxxxxx

I learnt so much from that vet visit and I have attached a photo of the leg that would have taken the full force of the car or whatever that has hit him. You actually have to know what your feeling for that's for sure, nerve and function testing.

Thanks to all who read this and especially Tolmie Peafowl for reminding me to keep an eye on the use of Chadwick's legs!
