Java Green

I am still looking for a mature pair of java green peafowl. I have given up looking here in NSW as all the leads I was give lead to most being an embarrassment to java's and the rest didn't even have them :roll:

. One bloke up north went on and on and on...... about how good he is and he's done this and that and had them 30 something years blah blah blah..... so full of bull dust, what a tosser [smilie=a_chuckle.gif]

hung up and had a good laugh. The worst part is after I hung up I realized I had spoken to this clown 2 years ago about blue pieds and had the same bull dust spewed at me :roll:

It’s a little dayjavue as I had the same trouble when trying to buy my blue pied's 2 years ago I could not find any decent pieds here, not one, so they came from QLD. So my search is focused on Queensland and yes I have contacted peacocks Australia and waiting for them to get back to me. In my search it became very clear, very fast that the best peafowl are in QLD so if you have a mature pair of java's for sale then please contact me and send photos with your first email, no time wasters please.

Good luck with that one bluepeafowl ( though your sentiment is much appreciated).

Unfortunately, importation of avians into Australia is restricted to commercial poultry and...racing pigeons!!!!!!!- and even then only from selected countries (not the US).

It blows me away that you can't import a bird that you want to keep confined, but you can import a pigeon, then release it into the wild at one end of the country for it to fly across the country back to its coup. Absolutley ludicrous!

I know the disease argument but surely what's good for the goose is good for the gander (pardon the pun!)

In the meantime, we must make do with the limited genetics we have, particularly with rarer species such as Javan greens & fireback pheasants.

So you can understand when we look abroad at the species you have available- a little green with envy!!

But we do hope you all (outside Australia) have continued success with these species so that they don't disappear from aviculture altogether- who knows- one day we may have an opportunity to import some more.

Well the good news is a got a reply from Peacocks Australia and it look promising also he gave my email addy to one of his mates that has them and I got an email from him last night and that looks promising too so it looks like I have success. [smilie=a_cookiemonster.gif]

Big thanks to this forum as I would have no hope at getting them if it wasn't for here and big thanks Brissy’s gents for being the hub of high quality peafowl

If anyone is looking for quallity peafowl on the east coast my advice from my bad experience is don't waste your time looking anyware other than QLD

That is good news duffy, sometimes it pays to go straight to the top to get what you want. I was aware of the importation ban parvo as I have regular email conversations with PA but there are legal avenues to take and he is from my understanding so you may be pleasantly surprised

That's very promising news. We'll keep our fingers crossed. At least if PA is successful in importing some new genetics then they will be in the right hands rather than just in the hands of collectors, where rare birds often end up!

And that would not be be just isolated to Australia we too have the fashions and those looking for the $$

I have a similar story and I have also given up on finding peafowl in nsw so I too have turned to Qld and emailed Peacocks Australia, so I now have more confidence in finally getting what I want
