JKS, I use both and a free range mixture, it really depends on what brand you use and it's protein content. Remember to give the girls extra shell grit for added calcium and leafy green veggies too and the odd tin of cheap Coles sardines or fish based cat food or cat biscuits for extra protein. |

Here are the links to the Barastoc Range there are a couple of "free" books from them in PDF format. I use Darling Layers Down from their range. http://www.agriproducts.com.au/Products ... ultry.aspx http://www.ridley.com.au/newsletters/Br ... y-Book.pdf http://www.ridley.com.au/newsletters/Br ... k-Book.pdf I also use Red Hen's or Peter's Free Range Mix. You can buy Peter's Free Range Mix at Coles. http://www.lauckemills.com.au/poultry.html http://peterspureanimalfoods.com/produc ... ry-mix.php |

Layer pellets are cost effective, they maybe OK for those poor caged battery hens, but I personally do not believe that they are a complete diet your chooks. |
