I have a problem on my chooks.
I have read the topic concerning treating mites using Maldiside 50 but I am not sure if these are Mites or whatever
The chooks have a lot of very small creepy crawlies on them the crawlies are so very tiny almost undetectable but you soon know they are there cause you get real itchy.
Can someone help identify these for me..
Would you suggest that I dip my chooks in a Maldiside solution and spray there coop.
I also have ducks & geese - do they suffer from these little buggers also or not ????
any help & advice will be appreciated.
Cheers.
Brendon.

If they are small greyish specks then its mites ...they can be red too...

if they look like running grains of rice then its lice

both can be seen visably if you look at your chooks vent.

Mite spray is available from pet supplies and will treat lice but you have to treat their bedding and perches too...

I use frontline and Moxidectin which you add to the water, the front line you can spray vent or bald patch under the wing..

you will need something like pestene for perches or bedding...

Hi Brendon, WELCOME to the Forum, you may have seen this topic http://www.getphpbb.com/phpbb/viewtopic ... cksaustral if you use Maldison 50 it can be used on all birds & perches ect.. You will need to dip all the birds (leave their head above the water) then use the mix to spray the perches, boxes, bedding, ECT..

That's excellent info Heidi.

Thanks
P.A
