Is it possible to hatch twins from a double yoked egg I have set the eggs and 1 is a double yoke and on testing I see blood veins all over the egg would that be just 1 chick or both chicks |

HI Doubleeggs. I read a similar question somewhere and the answers weren't encouraging. Most said they probably wouldn't grow to full term and if they did there may not be enough air in the egg for them both to hatch. They would also be quite small. There was one that had positive results but with intervention. |

I have had 1 sussex d/yoker that was at the point of hatch but both chicks died in shell both were fully formed and ready to pip. I think they run out of energy as both are drawing from the one source |

mummaroo had 'twins' developing last year - cant remember how far along the development went twins are always going to be smaller and with initial health problems regardless of species so to get twin chicks out alive and have them grow to adulthood is remote - also it would need to be well documented with video footage right from candling onwards or no one is going to believe the person anyway |
