One of my roosters is sick. He sits on his perch hanging his head. He has been vomiting, and will still eat his food, but only in an on-and-off fashion. He is two years old, and until he started to droop his head about two weeks ago, he was in top health and an enthusiastic boss rooster. I thought his condition may have soon passed, but alas, not so.

Does anyone know what may be wrong with him? I wonder if it is another form of my pullet’s problem. See Stiff Necked Pullet: Marek’s Disease?

Phoebe

So sorry to hear your roo is unwell. As you are in a rural town is it possible to take him to the vet. My local vet is very reasonable.

How old is he?

Have you checked his crop? Impacted/sour crop as he's vomiting.

Maybe he has a digestive/gut problem. Have you tried giving him some natural yoghurt.

Have you firstly isolated him?
Is his crop swollen?
Bad breath?

Hi Chickababe,
Sorry for my late reply - our internet connection has been down.
He is two years old. His crop is normal.
I will be able to purchase some natural yoghourt early this week, so I will give him some in case he does have a digestive/gut problem.

Hi Bill,
Sorry for my late reply - our internet connection has been down.
Yes, he was and still is isolated.
He does not have a swollen crop, nor does he have bad breath.
Phoebe
