Hi everyone
How do you make a hen broody?I am breeding in the spring and want to do it the natural way.

you cant.
but you can encourage it by putting golf balls or fake eggs in the nest an leaving them there

too true Game - and you can always get breeds or cross breeds that are predisposed to going broody - Silkies are good broodies and Silkie cross Pekin are as well

chooklover101 I see you have these breeds so they may be well behaved and go broody for you when you want them to

yeah im going to an auction soon and will get a silkie or some other broody type chicken.perhaps i should give her eggs and then put in a small space for most of the day-just let her out in the mornings and give her food and water like i do with broody hens.it worked once

I found with an increase in rooster V hens the hens go clucky more often and longer
