Hi Chicka dee,

We had one little baby hatch and it is a little silkie. It's currently been brooded by Penny our little black silkie. She's made for mothering. So we have Sage with 8 babies and Penny with her little chick. We are running out of space for chook pens and nurseries  we have Penny in my neighbours chook shed.

That's not a bad hatch rate then. You must be pretty stoked with that.

I love it when they jump on their backs like that, it is so adorable

Sounds like you've got awesome neighbours [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

We are very lucky Pp with our neighbours. Both sides are chook people. Will get some more baby photos in the next couple of days. Not good photo weather atm.

Just an update on our babies.

I let all the chookies out this morning and one of the chicks I thought was a girl CROWED. This cute little one is a buff bearded silkie. The other two are a white frizzle polish and a buff frizzle silkie. Both a pretty big for their age :( .

Some hens imitate crowing to assert their dominance.

Lady Frances barks, she learnt it from the neighbour's Jack Russell's that bark 24/7. She stands on the back door step and barksfor hoping to get someone's attention and a hand full of scratch.

Were they the ones from the eggs from the Frizzle farm? Maybe they are all closely related for the high male hatch rate?

Do you hatch any fertile eggs sired from Sir Saffron?
