Hi I thought I had lost one of my free range chickens as she did not return to her roost. However after 3 days I found her on a clutch of eggs that had been laid in an old compost bin.

What I would like to know would it be safe to move her and the eggs to a safer place? because I am worried about predators getting her.

Regards Lee.

Hi Lee,

Yes it is most definitely safe to move her & the eggs.

I ave done it several times vey successfully.

Best time to do it is just after dark sets.

That way she has all night to sit and sleep & get comfortable again.

Good luck gluck.gif

Cheers

Yep I agree and if possible put her and the eggs in a small cage that will help her to focus on the eggs gluck.gif

Thank you for all your replies, I moved her from the compost bin to a cage and there was a bit of flapping around and squawking, but soon as she realised her eggs were there under cover and in a nest I built for them, she settled back in happily. Will let you know when I have chicks.

:)
