OK I'll get on to it and take a few photos tomorrow. Everything tells me that there is no way a muscovy/mallard derivitive cross can be fertile howevery I'm at a complete loss as to what I have. The only other thing I can think of is a cross with one of the local native ducks which don't have curly tail feathers in the male, but frankly I can't see that as the case as these are much bigger.

i have read an article somewhere on a study of muscovy crosses that it was possible, though highly unlikely, that a male muscovy cross can be fertile. something to do with sperm production.

I have both male and female muscovey crosses.
Neither have ever bred.
They are such nice looking birds and get to a good size.
One of the males strayed in 6 yrs ago and stayed. He looks like a Rouen mussy cross. At least that is what I have been told. I have pictures of my crosses in the gallery...I think.
One is a fawn female who's father is a KC dark drake. Flies well and although timid is a nice girl. Never bred.

I have read the same Ian and the percentage from memory was 2% of all bred

Sorry but you will need to wait for the photos for at least another day. A friend dropped around and instead of taking photos the glasses were lifted. Hey it's Christmas anyway and I'm just out of Darwin, the party capital of the tropics.

Having read what you guys have posted I'm more convinced that I have not one but two of those very rare fertile cases and both black offspring seem to be fertile as well. Now as to the females as I have written the eggs are small also I have never had one hatch.

I'm also trying to work out how I can get a photo small enough in pixels to post. I guess I'll try and crop one. Sorry I may have a lot of experience with waterfowl but I I still find some of this computer stuff a bit daunting.

To date the breeding has been a bit haphazard and I'm looking at doing a bit of a trial to see how they go with mallard derivates and muscovy females in a more controlled environment
