Hi There To all wave.gif
It's been quite some time since I have been on this forum. Too busy to scratch myself.
The topic on the Khaki Campbells is interesting.
I jumped onto one site that says the Khaki Campbells should be just that "Khaki" in colour all over.
The four boys we bought as babies last year turned out just gorgeous with the green heads white ring around the neck blending down into a love chocolate chest into a lovely grey buff with the green/White in the wings.
BUT I HAVE TO SAY conf665 I am a tad confused.
I bought another trio of Khaki Campbells (the allover Khaki's) as well as a mix of various colours of Indian Runners.
My first trial hatch of baby duckies was to check fertility levels and out of 24 I hatched 18.
They are now 2 weeks old and are like "Shovels on Steroids" I am gobsmacked at how quickly they grow... woohoo4
I will be selling these but will place them in the Classifieds as soon as I get a chance.
I have another 40 duckie eggs down as well as the other JN-8 48 full of my mixed breeds of heritage chickens.
So I am flat out but as I said its interesting to note the variation in the different breeds.
Especially the Indian Runners, I adopted another 3 duckies yesterday...
But I think they have either been ill treated or just never handled the poor beggars are terrifiied of people.
Nervous wrecks but they are only youngsters so they are penned up untill they settle down.
One is a Pekin hen.
Once they "settle petal" and I can let them out with the other 16 adults in an area of about 2 1/2 acres will they be O.K.
I am worried that the older males will attack the younger boy and he is a Trout Indian Runner and dont want him injured.
Will the Khakis' and the Pekin girl breed a nice type???
Its all a learning curb for me but everything I have bred has been sold and ordered and spoken for so I must be doing something right.
As I have said before "You learn something new every day in life"

Just watch the young drakes with the old breeders they could get a hard time at first. If I were you I would wait until after breed season before I let them out less aggression then

In the campbells there are the colours in natural

Dark & Khaki so not just the one natural colour but 2 and the breed is referred to as Khaki Campbell so not referring to colour only but a breed

I think originally the name did refer to the colour but since then the colour mutations have appeared so as you say its now more the breeds name than colour

With the white campbells are they pure breeds or just a pekin/campbell cross. Are they recognized as a true campbell colour?
