Depends on the duck used over the drake and if the so called show quality is passed down

Yes, the "best looking" bird doesn't always produce the best chicks.
It depends on the combination of genes from both the drake and duck as to the quality of chicks they produce.
But it does help to have these "quality" genes to start with in the parent birds.

Same in pigeons, a mate paid big $$ for a stud male pigeon that won lots of races and all the chicks he bred were duds

The maximum I have paid is $50 for a drake a long way off that price

Oh we all know they paid the price to have a little fame of a champion but that only last 15 mins then their left with a muscovy drake that they hope can breed fame for them thinkerg.gif
