Has anyone got any geese laying yet???
My goose is laying. She has laid seven eggs but I have taken all but the new one she laid today. Her name is girlie and for two previous years straight she has had two batches. Looks like the same this year. She is so annoying. I have only one goose and two ganders. One gander is about 18 years old and is her gggrandfather. Girlie and her mate are between four and six years old.

I have not tested them yet. Last year only four of the twelve in the second lay were fertile. This is her first lot this year and she has never been this early before. Don't know if it is a sign of a wet summer coming or just she is out of wack. Maybe also because of the fact that there is only three geese or because I take her babies away from her she is laying more often. I don't want geese period as I have had them for about twenty years and am tired of them. The goslings are getting harder to get rid of now. AND I am in my early seventies and want to scale down more than ever.

Hello Possum Corner
The older the geese get the more it is possible to be low fertility. I am talking about over 15 years. The old boy is about 18 years old and does not try to breed as she has a mate. The female named Girlie is about 6yrs and VERY fertile. Her mate is about the same age.
I took all but 2 eggs away from her and she has hatched both. They are about 4 weeks old now and for sale.

All sold now. BUT knowing her she will lay again. Hope not she already has two lots this year.
