Following on from another funny story which gave me the idea tp post my silly bird saga
I have a goose - Lucky is her name - she hatched abt 3-4 days early - so I told the kids - "If she lives her name will be Lucky, as in lucky to be alive." Well I literally shoved her back into the egg - feet first - wrapped her up in a damp cloth and deposited her in the incubator - and for 3 almost 4 days she sat in that egg - happy as Larry - until her yolk was fully absorbed at which time she contined to just sit back in that egg in the incubator wrapped up in that damp cloth all nice and warm enjoying all the attention. WELL - we decided it was time for her to act more like a goose so we got her out - she decided she didn't like the cold and tried her hardest to climb onto everyones laps until she realised that wasnt going to work so she made a bee-line for our poor Rottweiler - who - a bit silly but from dementia - just sat there and let that goose cuddle up to her. Well anyway - our much loved Rotty has passed away now and Lucky is now 2yrs old and to this day will walk through the house front to back - back to front instead of walking AROUND the house to get to her pond - often stopping to see what is on the TV or to have a chat to whoever is at home - she chases after us when we go to the car wanting to come with us - yes she does get taken for rides ocassionally - but her all time favourite past time is - - - - - pulling the clothes off the line!! NEVER once has any dog I have EVER owned in **yrs gone near clothes on the line - but Lucky - well - yeah - hmmm - had to happen sooner or later didn't it - I just figured it would BE a dog not one of my geese!!

that is a great story, animals adapt so quickly don't they. That would be funny to see the goose pulling the cloths of the line, not good on the Wallet though :-?

Peter16 - yeah looking back it was kind of funny really - and we laugh abt it now - not at the time we were going through it though - that was just a lot of intensive care you might say
Jeff - I had never even heard of a goose hatching way too early - and when she did my first reaction was - oh well you arent going to survive are you - but then I thought about premmy bubs and how they wrap them up etc etc etc and next thing I knew I was just putting her back in her egg - I can't say it would work every time but it sure did this time and we are grateful for her every single day!!
So maybe it is something to remember if anyone ever experiences the same thing - maybe it might work again!!

The most wonderful and beautiful story, thank you.
I have many prem bubs of sheep and goats, dogs and cats etc but this beats them all, I will try this next time I have a prem poultry as I have had and never known this procedure.
THANK YOU

You are welcome Poultryalive - and thankyou.
Just remember it may have worked for us - but it may not work for other birds/breeds.
I truly believe we were 'lucky' with Lucky
Hence - we have this wonderful - maniac of a goose that is a TOTAL pain in the bum - that we absolutely LOVE.

Maybe I should post in another section what was done in detail to keep her going.
