How old do the chicks have to be to tell the age and also is the best way to tell by there red comb?

First of all welcome to the forum,

Second, I am not sure what you are asking but will try to answer to what I think you're asking, but feel free to rephrase if I'm not on the right thought pattern.

Isa browns go at point of lay (POL) at around 20-24 weeks & their comb is a good indicator that they are close to laying, but a deep red comb does not always mean they are about to lay. For example my Speckled Sussex had a very red comb because I had to chase her & catch her so she was clearly stressed. So they show other symptoms of their condition through their comb. But, yes, generally you can go by the colour of the comb as an indicator.

If you buy isa browns make sure they are about 12-14 weeks and not 12 months old or more or you won't get a lot of eggs for very long

welcome all, sometimes, when you buy hens they will lay for two or three days then stop, they would usually start again before a month at the latest.

Is it true the isa Brown chicken is a hybrid of a cross between rhode island whites and rhode island reds if true how can it be a hybrid when both are rhode island?

Yes its true but their is another breed in the mix I believe and thats why its a hybrid

I found some more info on them they also have white leghorn in them so that is why they are a hybrid [smilie=a_doh.gif]
