Post subject:  IS IT OK TO USE MAGNESITE IN THE CHOOK PEN AND HOUSE

I have a bag of Magnesite (a fine white powder) in the shed which I purchased a few years ago to help with the control of Harlequin Bugs in the garden. It is supposedly similar to Diotomaceous earth extremely coarse/abrasive and must be used with precautions i.e. a mask to protect the lungs. Has anyone used this or does anyone know anything about this maybe for the roosting perches for red mite? There are no instructions on the bag. I have "Googled" Magnesite and can find nothing that appears to relate to animal husbandry.

I am in the process of cleaning out the chook shed and run preparing to recieve our next lot of chooks. Is there a favourite method of doing this preferably an organic method posted anywhere on this forum, maybe in FAQ's.

Thanks in anticipation

Maureen

Until someone can tell you definitively don’t use it
I have no idea as I don’t do gardening and have never even thought to use Magnesite for anything as a result
