Hi Kino,

I know this topic is old but just thought about your plum tree. Most plums are self fertile to a point but would fruit better if you had a pollinator. I have just bought a Satsuma and Mariposa plum tree so they can help each other fruit. I am planning on planting mine in the run area where the new coop will eventually grow.

I have 5 pear trees in my coop well the coop was built around them and they have never looked or fruited better so it was the best idea hubby came up with and the chooks love the fallen fruit

bananas love rich fertile soil with lots and lots of chook pooop ! but they aren't very strong, as they said before, if they try to perch on one it'd probably break., but they do need a fair bit of water, banana trees are practically just water. maybe you could try a mango? they are fairly good at shading, grow to a nice height, have the best fruit and, chooks can perch on it!
