Just had to show off my Tuesday 'off' efforts.

Put up a temporary enclosure for my 8 week olds. I think they like it. :-D

They have already wiped out all the grass in their smaller enclosure. I'm hoping this is gonna be a win/win. I need to get rid of all this grass so I can mulch under my fruit trees. Would have made it bigger but I ran out of wire. :( You can just see in the back right corner one of my rocks jumping up to eat one of the five apricots on my tree this year. Buggers got my only three cherries last year.

Spoke to the neighbour about my rooster as well. Wanted to let them know If he was annoying I would get rid of him. Apparently they like his crowing. [smilie=a_cookiemonster.gif] Lucky for him he saves them up for mid morning onwards.

A real mixed bag wickedwings. What you see before you are the following.

All 8 weeks old.
Barnie x Leghorn
Leghorns
Wyandottes
Mystery chicken x leghorn (the huge white ones - we think the hen is a Steggles meat chicken escapee)
Speckled sussex x leghorn

:-D

I was playing with the incubator and it worked well. 31 chicks. I have sold 10 so far. These are the ones that are left. Have to sell all of them before I can incubate another lot.

I really want to do some of my rock eggs next time. A friend of mine is keen to see some blue barred rocks. I do have a broody barnie at the moment. sidesplit.gif

I won't tell you about the 11 week old Australorps and Araucanas I have around the corner.

Is that the JN8-48 incubator you are having success with? You seem to be doing really well.

The fence looks great! Is that chicken wire 5ft tall or is it just my eyes? We could use some that wide but settled for the 900ml rolls.

Yeah wickedwings it was a JN8-48. This last lot was fantastic but the one before I got quite a few chicks with high heat related problems. The next one will test if I have it figured out or it was a fluke.

MrsM it's two 900's joined together. Just with pinch clips so they are easy to separate again. I'm always recycling. :-D I bent the wire over the top to hopefully stop them if they try scaling it. Not gonna help if they take a run up. The bottom of the wire is pinned down with weed mat pins I had lying around.

I need to do similar so would 900 be too low or could I get away with it for 2 weeks?

Don't know how old your chicks are BetterWorld, or what type but some of mine could certainly get over the 900 high wire before they were 8 weeks old. I needed it high to stop my older girls getting in too.
