Hi there,

I mix my hens together in my laying pen, just watch that the larger hens don't pick on the smaller ones, if everyone gets on fine then thats great and yes they all eat the same thing.

It's a good idea to give the new ones somewhere to escape to. I use a large wire crate standing on end near a corner. If the new birds are smaller you can make the gap small enough to exclude the bullies. I also find that it is better to introduce a larger number of new birds if possible as just one or two have to bear the whole brunt of the attack until things settle down.

I had trouble with mine and had to rehome my 3 bantams because the large hens would not stop picking on them
