Plastic dog houses have been used by many of us for many years now as nesting boxes as they are so easy to keep clean and so easy to de-bug as and when needed

One problem you will encounter is that what you probably consider a large chook is not = there are breeds here where the hens come in at 4.5 to 5kg and the roosters 6 to 10kg

You would need to cater for these large breeds as well as what you probably think is large (as an example Isa Brown = which is actually small compared to the largest ones = Orpington, Cochin and Brahma) then cater for the tiniest breeds = Belgian Bantam, Japanese Bantam and Pekin = all of which are true bantams and very small = average weight for a Pekin is 1kg)

Most suburban owners would have smaller breeds but some may have the larger ones and this type of housing if done correctly could be a most viable prospect.

The fact that you intend to use UV stable recycled plastic is a definite bonus as most want to use recycled where possible

If you did drafts of several designs, giving the different sizes in each design would be made in, that would also help

Thanks Soozorps, I will definitely keep that in mind. I keep Isa Browns and Australorp's so I'm not as familiar with some of the other larger breeds. Thanks again for your feedback - much appreciated.

Not yet, I have designs and I'm in talks with a manufacturer so if all goes well I should hopefully get some prototypes soon.

I would be very interested in this idea as I did look at the ones on ebay but too expensive with postage
