So picked up two five day olds for my broody bantam and the supplier warned me to withhold the mums eggs for two weeks if she is eating the chick feed due to medications included in formula...sounds reasonable...what do you think....?.?

There seems to be no research as to how long it takes for cocci medications to be cleared from the hen's system but 14 days is often suggested as a safe withholding period.
I imagine the broody is not laying so you may be able to keep the other hens away from the treated feed. One method is to place the chicken feed where the chickens can get get at but the adult poultry can't access.

Believe it or not she is taking feed out of container and placing it down for babies and they arent even hers..i have five other hens separate to these so i dont mind throwing her eggs away when she does start to lay for a while...so sweet

I am not sure there is any withholding for chick stater with mum the level of meds are very low as they are meant for chicks so I doubt mum would have much issues but if your in doubt 14 days will be heaps I think

Well it is the only food she has as they are in a nursery for three weeks isolated from other hens and babies can only eat chick starter so that is all I give mum...i did try taking her out for a spell to graze but she put up the biggest fuss and threw herself at the cage to get back...heaven knows what she would be like if they were actually her children......so maternal

I agree but most broody hens with chicks will not lay anyway so it will work out well
