Hello..in two weeks we are undergoing about three months of extensive renovations...my five hens are used to being out free ranging several hours each day but during the renos, i dont want to risk them getting hurt or being affected by dust and asbestos etc..the builder assures me that as long as we wet down during demolition it should be fine......i am not taking any risks..

My question is, for entertainment and extra scratching in their pen, i would like to know if I can spread prunings from the neighbours and friends plants provided, like me, they do not spray......things like natives and grasses....i do know some plants are poisonous but the girls will be driven to distraction without their usual fossicking and bug catching.....is there a bale of something other than straw and sugar cane mulch that stops boredom....

Cheers [smilie=a_cookiemonster.gif]

My coop has 2 large orange trees and the girls love them even sleep in them some times but I found they do attract lots of bugs the girls eat

I used orange trees because we eat more than lemons but a mandarine tree would also be great
