My the question please is about what type sand is best for the floor of my coop. The produce shop recommended meduim washed sand but the landscape supply said they had not heard of it? The have river sand washed so would that be ok?

I suspect they're one in the same thing. Most washed sand is river sand- it's only the coarseness of the sand that varies.

I use river sand and find it's great. It does eventually settle and can look a bit ratty (even with raking and removing poo reguarly) but its easy and cheap to top up when necessary.
