Seems qld is the place to buy the guineas from actually all birds from all my readings maybe we should be call the bird state

I move here [qld] 5 years ago from NSW and found all the fowls I wanted in two weeks of arriving so I have to agree all the breeders of the quality and variety are here

I think the guys in Qld are more intune with the genetics and understand the types of fowl like guineas and peafowl thats why all the best quality and new colours come out of Qld

And I should ad if it was not for PA I would not have the guineas I have today especially the reverse pieds in silver, cinnamons, creams and whites so a massive thanks PA

Well I decided to keep these together and see if I ever bred a cinnamon from them and yes I did 1 cinnamon keet hen. Now I also added 3 more so called split cinnamon hens all lavender to this group of ALL splits so its a sizeable flock now and ALL splits {hold the laughter}

So to answer the question on the recessive V sex linked well here is 100% proof they are not recessive. If they were recessive then hens could be split to cinnamon as can the cockbirds right!

So breeding split cinnamon to split cinnamon = 50% cinnamon offspring both sexes

Lets look at the number 50%

Now from last year to this year I have bred 184 keet from these 'so called splits' and only 1 cinnamon keet hen YES 1 only, so its cannot be recessive its not possible or I would have around 80-90

Now with sex linked I would get the odd cinnamon hen from a pairing of split cinnamon to non split hen lavender but the % is very low so this proves none of these so called split hens are actually split at all and remember ALL were guaranteed splits in both sexes yes guaranteed and the last 3 hens also came from Qld north of brisbane and guaranteed split so nether breeder have any idea what so ever.

Interesting, if I have understood what I have read on genetics

split recessive cock to split recessive hen statistically should give
12.5% normal cocks
12.5% normal hens
25% split recessive cocks
25% split recessive hens
12.5% recessive cocks
12.5% recessive hens
A total of 25% recessive

split sex-linked cock to normal hen statistically should give
25% normal cocks
25% split sex linked cocks
25% normal hens
25% sex-linked hens
A total of 25% sex-linked

If it is only the "splits" that are together you should have gotten more cinnamons, I think it shows that probably most of the split cocks aren't even splits.

No you have that wrong as statistically split to split (if recessive) WILL produce cinnamon at the 25% or more it has to be that way IF they were split. On the other hand sex linked does not have to produce any as the % is not fixed because you only have the cockbird split as hens cannot be split so looking at my controlled study closely you will see the recessive theory is not possible assuming both are split as guaranteed. I know Tim has also done a similar controlled study so I have asked him to post his findings
