I think the point the Post Master was trying to make was, don't label them as eggs,them nobody knows; don't complain if any get broken.
I have sent eggs & received them, only ever had one lot broken,these were sent buy Express satchel from WA to NSW.

I pack my eggs in sawdust/wood shavings when I send them and haven't had a problem to date.

I decided to post this here as things were getting a bit off topic in fertile egg in poultry sales.

When I post eggs I wrap each egg in facial tissue, not the ones with impregnates stuff just basic plain homebrand facial tissue. Then I put them in an egg carton, fill any spaces with more tissue then put wood shaving in a postal box, put the eggs in and fill in any spaces with more wood shaving. This way the eggs can breath and are protected from knocks and temp variations. Receivers have informed me none of ther eggs were broken and they had a very good hatch rate. One lady got 20 hatch out of 24 eggs and she was very happy with that.

I have had eggs delivered in bubblewrap and found them broken and hatch rate not good. Same with ones that were packed just in an egg carton with crushed up newspaper around them.

I think the eggs need to be protected as much as possible from the knocking and bumping to be viable.

Having broken at least one egg in 14 cartons out of 30 dropped at work last week, I figured the moment they hit anything with any force (the two boxes of 15 cartons each fell about 1.2m from the top of a pallet onto concrete) they tend to crack or break.

That's why I bubble-wrapped and "shredded-papered". I think the idea of wood shavings has a LOT of merit. I also considered simply shredded paper, as long as I could be sure they wouldn't work their way to the sides of the box during transport.

I'm hesitant to use egg cartons as I have so few. :-D

If you don't use egg cartons what and how do you keep the eggs from moving around like loose cannons in the carton?

I explained my packaging in another thread.

A box within a box. The inner box was about 15 x 15 x 12cm...I think. The outer box was 37 x 22 x 28cm. There was shredded paper between the inner box and the sides of the outer box. It seemed to offer some shock absorbing effect.

I guess I'll find out later today.

Five broken out of two dozen.

The buyer said she was prepared to wear that since I am still working it out.

She also got two dozen eggs today from someone at Kingaroy and none were broken.

The method used was described by covenarabiansnpoultry at Durong (Kingaroy by default :?:

So, in future...
i wrap each egg in kitchen paper towel "cut 6 squares" in half which will wrap the dozen eggs. which I than place in an egg carton, which I wrap the whole thing in bubble wrap and place in an aus post mailing box surrounded by shredded paper so the cartons have no movement, very rarely does an egg get broken "thank god
