Lavender can be mistaken for silver, they are very similar hues on the colour wheel, Lavender has more blue tones in it.

The colour Lavender or silver still reminds of my Nanna's or an old lady's hair rinse!

The chooks on the above site look a light lavender or silver depending on the breed and what they are to classified as...

You can have light, medium and dark shades of lavender, but to some they will just look silver...

Here is a definition of platinum, it might actually help with the description of the actual colour.

"Platinum ( /ˈplætɨnəm/ or /ˈplætənəm/) is a chemical element with the chemical symbol Pt and an atomic number of 78.
Its name is derived from the Spanish term platina del Pinto, which is literally translated into "little silver of the Pinto River".[1] It is a dense, malleable, ductile, precious, gray-white transition metal."

Taken from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Platinum

Hope it helps.

I could be wrong but I have been speaking to a breeder who seems to know what he is talking about and I think they are silver sussex.

Yep, they're Silver Sussex according to this website.

Platinum is a sort of silver in colour, many people call it white gold. "Platinum", "Silver" and even "Lavender" are all really similar in colour.

"Platinum Sussex" just sounds more sophisticated than plain old "Silver Sussex"; so would a difference in name also give a difference in price, with "Platinum costing more than "Silver"??? It's like advertising a "rare breed" or a "heritage breed"...
