Hi all, at what age do roosters start crowing? I have some 12 week old plymouth rock roosters and one of them started crowing this morning. I don't mind the crowing, but I thought they started crowing around the 20 week mark? What are peoples thoughts?

Mr. Rooster started crowing at about 12 weeks too, a couple of The Lavender Gang were about 10 weeks old when their started vocalings those funny Cock A Doodle ooo ooo's.

It probably depends on the individual rooster, their breed and possibly their environment???

My australorps from about 10-12 weeks but I have heard of bantams crowing at 8 weeks so yes depends on the breed of chicken

Thanks for this info. Since posting the original comment, my little araucana rooster, and the other 4 plymouth roosters, have all started. So dawn at our house is noisy at the moment.

Do the bantams start crowing earlier than the big breeds or is that just my bantams?
