the gene pool for light sussex is massive compared to other breeds like malay, shamo and asil...

if u need sussex breeders i know of about 15 within 2 hours of me

that would be good


in aus we have
silver duckwing, gold duckwing, partridge/black red, red pyle, pyle, dunn, creel......

maybe a few more, but they are not populer

I totally agree, all the top breeders I have spoken to say they are far, far better in the UK than what is here now. South Aust has the best of whats available and then some in vic are ok but we need the good quality from os to get the light sussex back on track

Thanks Fowlman, they are two great references. So parcels of eggs were offered to participants in the scheme. They paid $3,000 a parcel and working on an average hatch of 50% that amounts to $150 a bird.

On paper its approx that per egg/chick BUT the catch is getting 50% of your parcel to hatch if you don't you will get another breed in there place. So lets say you wanted ONLY Yokohamas but only 2 of the eggs hatched or 80% hatched were cockerels then the balance may be cochins or something else. Its a gamble and many hurdle to jump to get them in your coop
