Post subject:  ARTICLE ON PEAFOWL HEALTH & CARE

Hi All, we have just put an Article on our Web Site on "Peafowl Health" this may help those who are new to the Wonderful World of Peafowl.

One thing we will repeat here is:

Worms: like all ground dwelling birds, Peafowl need to be wormed on a regular basis (twice a year- minimum) there are many types of worms that can be contracted by Peafowl but special consideration should be paid to Capillary worms, select a wormer that treats most types of worms including Capillary.

The above was taken from our new Article on our Web Site.

Thanks

Hi
One of my young chicks - about 6 weeks old - has slipped a knee. He was fine for his first three or four weeks, when the joint started to get loose. At that point I "hobbled" him by tying his ankles together. Although he had slipped the hobbles within 24 hours the leg had appeared much more stable although again slipping out occasionally. However in the last few days it has again become quite spraddled, with his right knee bending in the wrong direction. His increasing size as he grows appear to be putting more pressure on the joint. He is in a small pen on grass, so it hasn't been a slippery surface to cause the damage. Any advice on how to treat and hopefully correct the problem would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Tom
