Which colour is better for a junior to start show breeding for a positive outcome when the time comes to show

Is white the best and easiest of the colours?

He like the blue and white but I see such a contrast in the colour and I am not sure what is standard for showing

Any advice for him would be welcomed

What breed does he want to show softfeather, hardfeather etc.
White is actually one of the hardest colours to show because anything that is not perfect will show up.White birds need to be totally clean and stay like that can be a challenge to someone who is just starting out.

Well in muscovys I would go black and white but I dont like white muscovys I have other colours though.
The white part still is the same for muscovys they have to be very clean.
Muscovys are difficult to show as they have a habit of having ratty feathers so you need to keep them pretty much on their own if you want to show them.
Look get a bird and have fun with it it is a learning process and you pick up things along the way.

My son started with white as they were more readily available but there is more competition in the colour so I would say go with bronze or lavender far less competition so much better chance of your child winning

Nothing wrong with a bit of competition?

No your right but to keep their interests going they need a win or 2

Thats why I asked as I would like him to do well to keep his interests and not loose interest quickly

The other point I should make is he will have less trouble selling the bronze and lavender ducklings and he will get more for them than whites

I agree with this. Plus, having a colour that is slightly rarer, will encourage abit more attention towards your son, therefore fuelling his interests. I haven't had much experience with muscovys, but how old is your son if you dont mind me asking?

Also, alot of clubs/shows do offer special encouragement awards for juniors, so if you can find any near you that offer that sort of thing, i know my two kids love it (mind you, mine are only 2 and 3 and just love going along to see all the other chickens)
