I have 3 chicks. How do I tell when to take out from the nest to handle and tame.
They have their feathers 80% I suppose. Very shy and try to hide.
I am handling them a bit each day.
What do I feed them if I take one out now?
I have 3 dowels on the box to make it easier for them to get out but this is my first successful hatch so I
was also wondering when they will come out of the nest.
Unfortunately I did not record their date of hatching.
Thanks in advance for any help here.

Hi cordelia,
My babies are great. All 3 survived.
I had one chick that must have crash landed and hurt its leg, which healed well.
The chick was not eating and was getting weak so I removed it and hand fed it.
It was so weak it could hardly get up to the food station. Had me worried for a bit. But it recovered.
All 3 chicks are a variant of Olive green colouring. 2 are slightly darker than the one I rescued.
I ended up feeding all 3 in the end.
One was sold and I still have 2 left.
They don't like to be handled even after hand feeding them for a month or so.
Oh well..can't win them all can I?
The mother is yellow lutino and the father is olive.
I might put a photo in if I can get it to work. Not too good at it.
