1969PoultrySeller, you have a private message from me too. It provides a way of contacting me that does not require computer skills ;)
After you log in, look in the top left hand corner for "new messages" and click that - from there you can click on messages in your inbox. You may not be able to reply (not sure about that).
Please think through before posting your real life contact details - for some it is no big deal, for others it is against their privacy.
Also, if you have kids or grandkids buzzing around the place, they can be used for more than catching chooks - they are usually very computer savvy - get them to help. Computers are a work in progress for me too.

It took some years, but here are Bourbon Red Turkeys in Queensland. They are hatched from eggs purchased from Deutscher's Turkey Farm of Victoria. They are a deeper shade of red than my earlier birds and bigger - particularly the hens. These are only six months old.

Thank you :-D
The photo is of young birds, I am hoping they come in a little darker but retain the white tail next year.

Turkeys are a little trickier to breed than most chooks but worth the bother.

They are lovely birds to handle as they are curious and friendly and have quirky personalities. Mature toms parade around and seek out your attention. I had an extended family BBQ outside on the other side of the house from the poultry pens. My guests were amused to see a turkey tom at the window of the family room, displaying his feathers to all my guests through the room separating us from the birds.

Another time I had a farrier outside and as he was talking, a turkey hen watching from on top of the gate started to examine the farrier's ear. I has to warn him, as he had no idea he was about to get a curious peck in the ear from behind.

Turkeys tend not to dig the garden like chooks, although I planted rasberries once and the turkeys ate the rasberries. Not just the berries, the whole plants, leaving only a small ball of root and the tag of my recently purchased plants...

The line of turkeys I currently have seem very strong. I even run them with chooks, however poults do not have the same immune system as other poultry so I do take extra care about where I raise them and stocking rates. Poults are a bit more accident prone than the street-smart chicken.
