What can you fine people tell me about platinum sussex. I have answered a local advert from Karen who has a few spare to sell but her husband had them and bred many over the years but he has passed away and she has limited knowledge of the colour and the breeding styles of them

I have Googled the breed Platinum Sussex and the images seem to be those of a Lavender Birchen Sussex which are a similar shade to my Lavender Araucana's, that is the look like an old lady's lavender hair rinse, no offence to those who use a lavender hair rinse.

Attaching a photo of Mr. Rooster to show the lavender colour. Please note that Mr. Rooster has a predominant gold gene and had gold/blonde tips in his hackle, wing and tail feathers.

I purchased what i was told was a platinum sussex, she is only 9 months and has just started laying so i'm not sure if there is another moult to go. But she is basically black which white lacing around the neck, pretty much opposite from the normal light sussex if my girl is correct to type (which i don't think), she's a nice big girl though.

Does that help?

I could be wrong but I have been speaking to a breeder who seems to know what he is talking about and I think they are silver sussex.
