Hi Ian, We couldn't say no because Australia is a big place and there is a lot of Blues out there, but it's highly unlikely, especially Midnight as this was not a Natural mutation through Indian Blues. If a Charcoal was to appear through no selective breeding (fluke) then it's also likely it will be unstable and breed Indian blues. Phenotype is one thing, Genotype is another.

P.A is right, because the gene's of the charcoal is not consisting on birds that have higher amounts of charcoal gene's then if you try to breed it with another bird for future breeding the chicks will have a highly insignificant amount of charcoal in it because it came from indian blues with no traces of charcoal in them, but the chances of a charcoal randomly appearing is very slim.

i had a look at the birds on the links wow i didnt know peacocks came in all those colors there great looking birds and a lot of work must go into breeding them . keep up the great work guys

they are beautiful, i hope one day if i go to the U.S i would love to go to legg's peafowl farm because you can visit there farm and see all there peafowl. It's amazing how dedicated people are towards breeding peafowl.

i didn't even know we had anything close to black shoulders. I am on another forum were there is allot of discussion on the 7 species of java green peafowl, it seems that a sad thing in australia is that people are crossing different species of green peafowl together and crossing indian blue peafowl with green peafowl together so now it seems there might only be a couple of pure java greens left in australia and there most likely going to get bred with an impure java green, and I'm sure my java green peafowl are impure and most of your java green peafowl too P.A. We have to face the facts :cry: so we need to import pure lines that they know there breeding record and all and we have to give everyone a fact sheet on all the species and what species of the java green peafowl that is (e.g Pavo imperator) so that they don't pollute the gene pool and they know a bit more about the birds they are buying, and they can do there bit in conserving these beautiful majestic birds.

Hi Tahir, The site for your link is overseas; they would have little knowledge of the Geno in Australia. We agree that there are a few Hybrids being passed off as Greens but those that have pure stock do not practice this. We have been breeding Greens for many, many years and our stock originated directly from Adelaide Zoo, they have not and do not cross breed and nor do we. We agree that new blood is needed and are working on that and hopefully we will get approval in the not so distant future.

it would be good if we could get java green peafowl from the Rodney Michael line. Mr Michael is one of the last persons to have imported pure Javas from the wild. It would be a great opportunity to get java green peafowl that have been imported from the wild.
