What sort of incubator is it, Terrence? Brand, size, age, auto/manual?

Hi Terrencep08, There is basically two factors used in artificial Incubators

1) Temp
2) Humidity

It is VERY important to get this right before you put the eggs in? Did you get a Manual with the Bator? This link should guide you: http://www.australianpoultryforum.com/v ... .php?t=663

Thanks
P.A

I have used one similar and I found one of the most important things was to make sure I could see the temperature through the window. The less it is opened the better and it's better in a room that has a constant temperature, without drafts. It can be tricky but if you have a still air one (no fan in it) then try to get the temperature to stay on 103oF or a little less like 102 and half. then put eggs in and only disturb them when you turn them if you have to do it by hand (twice a day). Follow the manual if it is different and has some info in it. The most sensitive time for disturbing eggs is in first week and last 24 ours of incubation. Make sure the water is maintained as it states in manual and on the 18th day stop turning eggs and on 19th top up water and don't disturb the incubator until eggs have hatched on 21st day. If they are disturbed then you will loose the himidity in the air of the incubator and chicks won't be able to hatch properly.

If you've had problems - are the eggs fertile? At day 14 shine a light behind egg in a dark room. If they are fertile you should be able to see a little chicks swimming around in egg.

Maybe they dont hatch because you are putting chickens in so they are already chickens :!: :?:
