NOT detracting at all from the Orp Clubs around the world and the amazing amount of effort put into the promotion of the breed by each Club and the colours within the breed
But - - - - - - -

good on ya orp club! [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

sorry but the Orp Clubs across the world had nothing to do with the development or work on this colour = it was the recognised developer in each country (who started the colour in each country) and those that chose to take the colour on once it was developed and help take it to heigher heights

the OZ Orp Club just goes by the UK & Europe Clubs name atm even tho I believe they OUGHT to be called BUFF Cuckoo
as genetically it is hard to breed a 'Buff Cuckoo' with Buff and Grey barring = this is what overseas means when talking abt an Orp Buff Cuckoo - insert a shrug here!

in the mean time we call it Lemon Cuckoo

I am going to be submitting to the other Members of the Orp Club Colour Committee that WE in OZ call this colour Buff Cuckoo

And making all my posts in here redundant - insert another shrug

If you knew the diluter they used to change buff to lemon colour it would make it easier,
that photo there looks like the buff has been diluted with salmon breasted wheaton , this should be able to be done with the colours we have here.
if you cross a buff with a wheaton then cross the offspring back to a wheaton you should get a small % straight lemon then cross those with a barred
cross a male offspring back to the lemon and you should get a small % lemon barred keep those and they should breed true after a couple of generations.

C.K it has been done about 3 years ago by me and a friend who knows a lot about genetic suggested it.I know nothing about genetics and am the first to admit it.
I did as you suggest, and yes it worked.I have since been told to put in another breed of a curtain colour to make it a true lemon. It was a member of this site that sent me a message that said one work only,a colour. I am now in the process of doing this. The member has a remarkable knowledge of genetics and he alone started me in this direction.I have lost shape in the birds but has it improved the colour remarkably,to me they now look lemon.I have not shown the birds to anyone because they shoot me down straight away saying they are diluted buff still.I am over that so I keep to myself and just keep working away on them.I will not give up on this colour as I love it and love having them in pekin's in my yard despite the knockers.

Thank you for FINALLY coming out mummaroo – keeping your secret HAS been easy but = I am sooooo glad you have come out :-D

One thing tho = you forget – you sent me pics a few years ago and even then I was impressed and we have discussed them a number of times over the years. So it has to be more than 3yrs as these were F2 (if memory serves) = otherwise how could I have kept your secret = even tho I hinted that I knew the person developing the colour in Pekins earlier in this thread

As to the knockers – they can go take a leap off a cliff!

And folks – they were definitely Lemon Cuckoo and I have been waiting patiently to go = MUMMAROO HAS BEEN DEVELOPING THEM

So

MUMMAROO HAS THEM and YES they ARE actual Lemon Cuckoo Pekins that in another generation will be back up in Type to what I am used to seeing in mummaroos backyard [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

I am not sure people are knockers because to date its clear from the comments they have not seen any true lemon cuckoo pekins in australia and although mummaroo may have them and you may have seen them no one else has so I think the "knockers comment" is a little unfair from both of you. I think everyone posting here will be very happy to see real ones in australia if they do exist and no longer a big secret.

its fair - I know first hand what some have said - some have said nasty things to me abt mummaroo and these LemonCs = to my face and over the phone and I have had mummaroo ring me a few times nearly in tears over some comments about mummaroo's 'claims' that are not claims = NOT from this forum but from outside sources = some of the negative and nasty/borderline evil comments would have been enough to stop a lesser person
hence only 'coming out' now

shouldnt be too long now [smilie=a_goodjobson.gif]

and from experience - one has to keep things a secret up to a certain point
mummaroo will post pictures as soon as the birds are ready to be presented.
I think we all need to congratulate and encourage mummaroo

this colour means not only a new genetic pool in Pekins but it can then be transferred to other breeds = mummaroo is 'breaking ground' and opening up many new avenues in the poultry world

Sorry did not know about outside sources so I do understand now, not nice and its a mystery to me why some people are like that.

I look forward to mummaroo silencing her critiques
