yes it would be if it only zaps one mouse at a time but if it is effective and you can afford to get a fair few - - - - - - -

The problem maybe with certain shires/councils is that cats have STRICT curfews and bi laws, and the cats are not allowed out to wander because of their negative impact on native wildlife both during the day and especially at night when the cats aren't supposed to be allowed out.

You have to weigh up the pros and cons of cats, mouse traps and rodent baiting and if it works within your shires/councils regulations.

Chook/poultry keep is very complex and there are no black and white answers.

I admit I still use rat bait pellets I should find a better option because we have a family of kookaburra's

when you compare the cost of baits and traps, you could just about throw the trap away after its first use and break even.
certainly eliminates the submersing in water or emptying dead mice out of traps.
can rodents build an immunity to certain baits?
i know they cant build immunity to a good barnyard puss.
a bait or trap wont come and sit on your lap on a cold night and keep you warm either

Unfortunately no cats here at my house. I have a ridgeback that not only would like a feed of chicken I'm sure she would love a feed a cat as well.

I'm yet to see a mouse but their poop is in lots of places.

I think I'm going to try the good old mice traps, set them of a night and check them of a morning.

Okay. I ended up buying the "Victor Multi-Kill - Electronic Mouse trap". Will kill up to ten mice before you need to empty the trap, though they recommend emptying it as soon as you see it has killed one.

Mouse goes for peanut butter, trap "zaps" it, mouse is rolled into a handy catchment tray and resets for the next mouse.

I set it up, placed peanut butter in the bait part and waited.

Two days now and not ONE mouse has gone inside.

I'll keep you posted, but so far, they are ignoring it. It's right in their path, too.

PS. My cat (indoor fella only) caught his first mouse in 8 years. He now has the title "Mouser" - rather than his former title of "wussy"

very much so = they need be be 'sure' this strange thing wont hurt them before they check it out fully = irony

question = you DID use gloves to handle it didnt you = there cant be any human smell on it = that alerts the mice (and rats too) that this new thing is dangerous

a good way to cover the human smell is to (using gloves) collect some of thier poop (fresh is best) and rub it all over the unit [smilie=a_makeitstop.gif]

They crawl over everything else they I touch (feed-bins, tools, hay bales...). I didn't even think of that!

I guess I'll be collectin' me some mouse poop tonight... Gah!!!
