What is your daily chook routine?

Being very new and not wanting to be doing anything horribly wrong I was wondering what are your daily/ weekly routines with your birds?

Every morning at 7.00 am on the dot I go down to the coop and let the girls out for the day then at lunch time they get their lunch a little bread then when its time to go in for the night I give them some lettuce leaves

get up and feed them have my brekky water them then collect eggs before and after lunch

well being ex dairy farmer as well a ex truckie my sleep ins still have me up 5.30 am latest

after acoffee or 2 im out n about chooks are fed at 6.30 as this is in progress i look over every hen just to check for any sign that shouldnt be there next its the roostres , then my breeky let the girls out on free range , the boys into there yards , grab a pitchfork mess out under perches , turn over rest of deep litter in pens , check n refill water containers , collect first eggs :mrgreen:

if any

do other jobs need doing get noon eggs do more jobs

put girls in fenced yards at 5pm feed n lock every one up for the nite look 4 last eggs

Well I let mine out when I'm up and got the kids sorted, usually 9am. I take them their brekky which is a mix of scraps from last nights tea and some greens mixed in and check their water. I also pick up any poo and any food etc from off the floor and put it into the compost.

Then at tea time I take out whats left of brekky and fill up the grain thing and check the water again.

At dusk I have to usher them back into the coop (they like it outside!) and lock the coop and then the run gate after me. I leave the outside light on cos I love peeking at them doing their whole bedtime, lets choose where we sleep tonight thing...

God, I read that back and I'm officially sad :oops:

Just wait till I have eggs to collect, I might spontaneously combust [smilie=a_cookiemonster.gif]

Its not my routine...its THEIRS.

Crowing anywhere from 3.30 on to let the world know they are there. few coffees to get going for me and than a quick check and do waters before off to work. Mixed pen let out, most days.

Start feeding around 4.30pm (this will get later with daylight savings), do egg checks (sometimes throughout the day if I am around), empty any fouled waters.

All pens are nice and clean just now as mine were all just moved onto concrete slabs a few weeks ago.

If I ever get time they will all get wormed and lice sprayed this week and a few crests cut back.

By feed starting time I mean I also have the rabbits, guinea pigs,cats and dogs to do. [smilie=a_chuckle.gif]

I feed them a mash at 5:30am and then once back from school at 4:pm they get some wheat.
On mondays they get some shell grit mixed in with the mash and on tuesdays they get greens with their wheat.

1kg of Gamebird starter
1kg of Layers pellets
500g of bread
(on mondays the get shellgrit added to the mix)
