Hi Tahir, We hope to eventually get some eggs from "Castlebury" but if not there is a few breeds that have direct lines.

Just have to convince the Government :roll:

I think if the government decides to let us poultry enthusiasts import eggs of rare and exotic fowl then we will be allot more happier, and has anyone even confronted the government about this issue.

how do you get the colouring on the charcoals tail and neck to become the dark brown/black?

Not only is this topic getting long but it has flowed over into the non internet world , yesterday I had a great yarn with an old fellow that used to keep peafowl on the other side of the forest to us , His neighbour is who I got my original blue pair off years ago , ,,,anyway they travelled a long way and spent a lot of money buying a pure pair of greens but made the mistake of trying to let them freerange and of course they dissappeared into the bush and were never seen again , I always live in hope I may see them in the forest one day , Anyway the crux of the conversation was my old mate didn't think their was to many pure ones left in Australia and thought it is something we should all pursue , he was very excited when I told him about PA's original pair from the Adelaide Zoo , in the end we decided I should add green to my wish list (sorry don't know which latin name to use ) along with charcoal or midnight , Ian ps I can't wait to see a photo of this chick..

Hi Ian, He wouldn't be the first breeder to let them out? We sold a pair about 6-7 years ago, to a person that waited 3 years. We repeatedly explained both verbally and in writing that "Greens" do not free roam, but you guessed it, they let them out 2 weeks later, last seen flying south

There was 2 breeders that originally got birds for S.A Zoo, one in S.A and the other in NSW, both are/were very experienced breeders and bred them true and for that we are very grateful. S.A Zoo still has some Greens although we believe only one pair left and they have not bred from them in some time (not their fault) There are quite a few misconceptions surrounding "Greens" some we hear a quite amusing, but the reality is there are very few breeders with them and some people are crossing them :evil:

not the good breeders that's for sure.

Peacocks Australia is 10000000% devoted to the Preservation of Green Peafowl and will do everything possible to ensure their survival in Australia.

We hope to put some Photos up in the New Year, when we up-date our Web Site Gallery, simply don't have the time at the moment.

P.S If you look in the Gallery at Photo 167 that Indian Blue Peacock is a form of Black Shoulder, this can show at any age.

it's silly how people think that if they let them out they will stick around, but they do learn from there mistakes the hard way. It's good to here that some people and zoo's are dedicated to keep green peafowl as pure as they/we can in Australia. can't wait till you get more pictures in the gallery.
