I am just wondering who on the forum has Green Peafowl.
I would also appreciate photos of both good and bad quality greens here in Aus.

I will also locate an email reply from peacocks australia received some time ago with regards to your countries situation on green genetics which will assist you and every breeder in your country

utd ones? I assume that means up dated ones? no need to rehash the same topic its all there for you to read and see, no need for up dated pictures of the same birds or any others for that matter, as you have been told all the answers are there. Perhaps you can ask some new questions not addressed in that topic and get the ball rolling and then you can learn more.

O & K : yes utd= up to date, that thread is a couple of years old and for all i know these people could have sold up and moved on to other fowl, i thought i would start a new thread where the good breeders on this forum could post with their experiences wit this beautiful subspecies...i also thought it would be good to have a FRIENDLY topic on the greens where people WITH them could post... do you have them O & K.

Pictures pictures please. On the thread linked it hasnt been made very clear as to which ones are good and which are bad???
Matbe someone WITH them could use the photos provided and say good, bad?

Ok well now we are getting somewhere!!!
So is that a first generation spaulding? easy to tell them apart, is there a way of telling 7/8ths or 15/16ths??? visually of course...
Do you have them NSW, if so are there any special requirements???

The % of 3/4, 7/8, 15/16, 31/32 in my view are nonsense as a cross breed is a cross breed but foreigners do use this to sell. How would you know without full recorded breeding history for decades or centuries and to increase the % you would need absolute "pure" so wild stock. How pure is the Zebra finch or the budgie? Compared to absolute "pure" wild stock? Are they 100% genetically the same? Well obviously not due to the size difference in budgies. Just remember limited captive stock will always loose something after many generations of breeding with no new blood so they will not look like wild birds as I believe is the case with greens in many cases here but that does not mean they are not pure far from it actually. Riverlook you will only tell with experience or contacting a breeder that has extensive experience with 'pure' greens like Peacocks Australia of Queensland they are the leading breeder of all peafowl here in Australia and pure java's so perhaps take some picture of any you want to buy and ask them if they are pure.

Yes, most of them... i was only wondering if there was a way to tell if they look pure, but you are unsure?
Anymore info on special needs?
